Hi, through play Jade is able to talk to the doll and express her feelings and emotions about what is happening to her in hospital, this projection helps her to make sense of the different, unfamiliar and sometimes unwanted situations she is finding herself in. Being able to explore this through play enables her to cope with these experiences and feel more in control of the events. The play therapist is also able to use these times to observe Jade's behaviour and inform others on how better they can support Jade in managing times of stress.
