Default linking theorists to EYFS help :(

hi all i submitted my assignment on theorists but failed the first attempt with this feedback left any help in were to find this information or any advice would be appreciated thank you

I would advise to focus on the following, as you will need to discuss how their findings have influenced the EYFS in 3.2.

For example:

Cognitive development:

· Jean Piaget

· Lev Vygotsky

Physical development:

· Arnold Gesell

Speech, Language and communication development:

· Noam Chomsky

· Lev Vygotsky

Social and emotional development:

· John Bowlby

· Maria Montessori

The difference between the first and second question is the first question is how does the theory generally relate to an area of learning. However, the second question requires you to link it to you current framework.

3.2 - current framework means the EYFS

You should only discuss the theories in 3.2 that you have discussed in 3.1

you need to discuss how the theories you have mentioned above relate to and have informed the EYFS

The EYFS focuses on children's development, theorists have provided studies that show children learn and develop best when they have an environment that suits their needs and is enabling, they are supported to grow as unique individuals, when they develop positive relationships and that all children do learn and develop.

These are the four characteristics of the EYFS - therefore the studies and theories that have been carried out have formed the basic characteristics of the EYFS - which informs, influences and under pins current practice in the Early Years sector when working and supporting children of 0-8 years.

you can then mention the 7 areas of learning with Gesell being a good example of physical development, through each stage of learning you can see that Gesell’s has helped inform and develop what is expected of a child within physical development and at what age we should expect certain advances - there is also suggestions with each stage to suggest how to best support physical development.
