Default number of children per session

Can anyone help with this question, we currently are registered for 16 children per session, is it OFSTED that decide on this number?
We have also had a small extension of a kitchen area that is in our rooms we use although its not a typical kithchen, that then goes on to a 100 square metre of outdoor play area of which half is undercover straight from the doors to go out. I know the measurements for meterage per child but dont understand how some places can take more children on smaller premises than ours, have recently seen this elsewhere. Should i ring OFSTED as cant seem to find the answers when googling Any help greatly recieved Thanks

It does also depend on the age of the children and how many toilets you have.

Ring ofsted and ask them to come out and check that you have the correct amount of space and children ...toilets will also affect the outcome as you have to have 1 toilet for every 10 children under 5 :-)
