Default Are learning journeys compulsary?

Hiya,

Our soon to leave joint play leaders have differing ideas as to this.
One seems to tie the learning journey and development records as one document. The other says that the development records are the most important as they are the ones that aid the transition to school and the learning journey is a nice add on that parents should not expect

Advice would be great please

Default

they are completely different
the dev record is for the setting to plan the provision and are technical but not desperately important
the learning journey is dreadfully important because they are the mainstay to the relationship with the parents, they should be made byt the child the parent and the child and taken home regularly and shared together.
the dev log will go to the new school the eyfs profile but it is for a different purpose

good settings have both
