hi all. was just wondering, the question asks to explain the assessment frameworks used in own uk nation.
i have written briefly about the EYFS learing development areas and that development is compared against set framework.
and the national curriculm. that is assessed in different stages of the key stages. am i on the write track. do i need to include every child matters outcome, even though they arent really a assessment framework.

Hi, take a look at the common assessment framework CAF it's a key element of ECM enabling early intervention & identification of needs for referral & multi-agency, integrated working, accessed by England, and Wales Youth Justice board through ASSET.

Page 35 & 36 of the practitioner's guide helps to show the relationship between CAF and other assessment frameworks:
Quote:
5.4
There are broadly two types of specialist assessment, each of which interacts with the CAF in a different way:

• Checks or assessments for specific development characteristics or milestones which apply to all children and young people. For example, the developmental checks undertaken by health professionals as part of the
Healthy Child Programme, or progress checks against the national curriculum conducted in schools, such as the Foundation Stage Profile.
• Additional assessments for children and young people with known issues or where there are specific or acute concerns.

Examples include assessments under section 17 of the Children Act 1989, the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code of Practice, Asset, Onset, drugs screening and assessments of children and young people with disabilities.

If more relevant for you, UK nations ..
Scotland's: Integrated assessment framework IAF and Getting it right for every child 2005
Northern Ireland: Understanding the needs of children in Northern Ireland UNOCINI guide
Wales: eCAF was piloted in Wales for 2 years - CAF evaluation
Safeguarding children: working together for positive outcomes
Quote:
Pg 7:
This guidance provides a summary of the key processes outlined in Working Together to Safeguard Children: A guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children (National Assembly for Wales, 2000) and the Framework for the Assessment of Children in Need and their Families (National Assembly for Wales, 2001). It does not replace either of these documents but should be read in conjunction with them.
