Help SOS SCMP1: Effective methods of ensuring participation and engagement in assessment and planning

The optional modules are proving to be quite difficult, I'm having trouble finding information

1.4 Analyse current evidence about effective methods of ensuring participation and engagement of children and young people of all ages and levels of understanding in assessment and planning

I have the following hints:
Effective methods/ Ways to engage may include:
 Appropriate venue/location
 Contributions through play
 Contributions through pictures
 Children and young people setting ground rules
 Written contributions
 Video/audio contributions

But I'm not entirely sure what they mean, are the contributions from the children (they provide us with pictures? they provide contributions in writing? the provide videos?) or from us (we put pictures around the nursery? We provide planning in writing? We take videos/audio?)

I'm also having toruble finding evidence on this... maybe my search skills are just bad

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it x

Hi, current evidence means what's happening at the moment in your setting.

If you look at your setting or placement for the first 'appropriate venue/location see how your setting or placement serves your local community and further afield eg. does it's position attract interest and attendance from families or do few people know it exists? does it link to a road/car park/ bus stop. Have activities on different floor levels that take children's mobility into account or is it a single story building with accessible rooms ..

SCMP 1 Assessment and planning with children and young people unit information

I find these blog posts useful for rule and boundary setting - I have a rule and 2010 rule list
and this pdf from Pengreen is good reading about children's contributions - encouraging participation

Hth xx
