i would imagine with 9 yr olds they will do the talking! listen and reply with open questions make lots of eye contact ask about favourite fruit, ensure they wash their hands and use the knives safely. check for allergies, ask what fruit they have a t home why do they eat it etc etc.

Hi, you could make fruit kababs drizzled with melted chocolate, melting the chocolate in a microwave would be best, then just let it cool while your finishing the salad. Take photos of the children busy making them. Are you being observed by your tutor while doing this or is it your first time with a group of your own?

It won't be any worse than my experience - I made porridge in the microwave with the children - there must of had a big air bubble in it and the porridge blew up covering the inside of the microwave:rotfl::rotfl:everyone had a good laugh about it and we made sandwiches instead

We always have sandwich stuff in the setting as we do toast, sandwiches and other different things for snack. Have you thought about doing fruit kebabs and using wooden skewers its something we did and was great fun - covered the element of risk too. We cut up some of the fruit and got the children who could manage to cut up their own. We used cucumber & carrot as well as fruit too. Don't forget to check and mention you have checked for allergies. Hope it goes well cant be any worse than exploding porridge !!! :rotfl:
