I wondered whether there were any community nursery nurses on this forum, I have an interview for one and wanted a perspective on the job is really like.

Hi Thankyou,

I'm in Lincolnshire but the job was in Leicestershire. I didn't get

I have also been for a early years officer job in a children's centre and I didn't get that either.
Not sure what I'm doing wrong so I am asking for feedback

Oh poor you i know the feeling, i applied for a job in a children's centre with surestart, through a agency told was a firm favourite and interview and dont know what i did wrong, think age is against me sometimes lol

anyway good luck with future projects

From the other side, I advertise and interview applicants for jobs and it's equally hard for me when I have numerous applicants and only one position.

If there are lots of applicants it's hard to get it down to just a few to interview especially when qualifications are the same or similar. It may appear 'nosey' or pointless but when you put down your hobbies or interests, it just may be what will make the difference - it's always good to have different skills in a nursery or pre-school setting.

You may have done nothing wrong, but were just plain unlucky. Someone has to be chosen and if you've given a good account of yourself at the interview, the person chosen is not home and dry until their probation period has passed.

Don't get disheartened, remain positive and upbeat and hopefully you will be in a job soon.
