Default Unit 007 - When is is acceptable to share information without consent? Please Help :)

Hi All,

I am stuck on a question and I have been searching online all morning. I have to answer this question...

Using published government documents, write in he space below the official definition of when sharing information without the consent of the parent or primary carer is acceptable.

Now I read one statement from a book but don't know what published document it came from :(

Really stuck Please Help.

Thank you!

Hi, from 'Working together to safeguard children' page 137

Involving children and families

The consent of children or their parents/caregivers, where appropriate, should be obtained for sharing information unless to do so would place a child at risk of suffering significant harm.

Similarly, decisions should also be made with their agreement, whenever possible, unless to do so would place the child at risk of suffering significant harm.

Thank you for your reply :)

Could you tell me which 'published government document' this would be from? I'm not sure if they mean something like 'The Data Protection Act' or a simular kind of thing.

Thank you again

Hi, it's from Working Together to Safeguard Children: A guide to inter-agency working to safeguard and promote the welfare of children, a document published by the Goverment's department for education. It's a huge read aimed at many different service providers. I didn't check this was level 2 sorry, if you look through this Goverment publication 'Information sharing: Pocket guide' you'll find useful information that supports deeper knowledge gained in the full document - download on this link xx

Best wishes
