Default support childrens and young peoples health and safety

Hi I was wondering if anyone could help as I am struggling a bit on the practical side of the course...supporting teaching and learning in schools l3

For unit 3 for the practical side I am required to collect evidence for and carry out the following tasks:

1) Demonstrate how to identify potential hazards to the health, safety and security of children or young people, families and other visitors and colleagues

*how do I demonstrate?

2)Demonstrate ability to deal with hazards in the work setting and in off site visits

*how do I demonstrate?

3)Undertake a health and safety risk assessment in own work setting or service illustrating how its implementation will reduce risk

4)Give example from own practice of asuuporting children or young people to assess and manage risk

I do not have an assessor visit me in my setting so the teacher is required to write witness statements....

thanks for any help :)

These should all be observed by a professional assessor why dont you have one? unless your teacher has an assessing qual she cannot assess you

Hi, its because its an online course...im expected to collect and collate all the evidence myself. The examining board think teachers are able to assess the criteria as they in effect manage teaching assistants... for the criteria to be met i need to write an reflective account with the testomony but am unsure as to what the content should be for the witness testomony... I would prefer having an assessor as it would make this course so much easier. but have to make do its giving me a headache though as the teachers are busy so its a case of fitting in and gathering evidence best as i can. Any help would be really appreciated..thanks :)

I'm having to write reflective accounts too to demonstrate the same criteria. This is what takes up so much of my time at home! Id much prefer my assessor to come into work and observe it. I get a mind block at at my laptop at home. Any pointers in the right direction would be greatly appreciated too!!

Hi, a very warm welcome to the site and congratulations on starting the course. This thread is 5 years old so if the members don't pop back please feel free to post whenever you need to.

To make sure you never feel overwhelemd by the work you need to pace yourself. Be strong to set aside xx amount of time a week to studying and writing. A handbook will also be valuable support as well as any reading list your course tutor recommends, and be confident to contact them when you need to, this is your course and you are entitled to be properly supported throughout.

Best wishes and look forward to hearing how things are going xx
