Birthday displays

Do you display childrens photos next to the months of the year with their birthdays eg fred 15th may is this breaking confidentiality if other people use the setting, what are your views, i know other settings near by, do the same thing as us.

why not ask the children to draw a picture of themselves instead??

We change our board every sept and at the moment have a hot air balloon for each month - a photo of each child is put in the right hot air balloon, this way no one else knows the exact date just the month.

We had the children make their own Butterfly ( name of our room) and then draw their own face to stick on it....... they love this because its their own work and we can just add to it when we need to, Each Butterfly is attached to a large flower with the month written on the stem. When the child leaves we include it in their Learning Journey book .

Our birthday display is in our room (so outside of the children in the room and staff in the setting its only visitors who see it) I've got a train with a carriage for each month, with a picture of the child (its the same picture that I use for the changing box and clothes peg) and their date of birth, the front of the train has the a large cloud of steam which has happy birthday on it and space for the picture to go on when its the child's birthday
