Alert Identity Theft Warning!!!!

I have just had the police knocking at my door!!! No, they weren't after me (phew!) but they had just arrested someone for going through other peoples rubbish! When the police searched the 'evidence' they found a scrap of paper with my name and address on!!!! :scared: :gnasher: :uvula: Now I am usually very careful when it comes to stuff like this - we burn any identifying papers :flamed: and remove addresses and account codes from letters/bills, so this came as quite a shock - especially as we recycle all of our paper and none should get into the household refuse!! I've contacted our bank, and they will now contact us to query any unusual activity and we're considering changing the account number as well!!

So, everyone, please be aware that identity theft does happen, be careful with your disposal methods and if you think anything suspicious is going on, let your local constabulary know.

It is scary the levels some would go to in order to obtain personal information :muted: I use an office shredder for redundant paper which is then recycled through our Gerbil then to the paper waste !

Definitely pays to keep an eye on whats being thrown out !
