Default K2D88 Formal Curriculum Frameworks

Hi All

Please could somebody advise me on K2D88 - How the activities and experiences for children and babies and children under 3 years relates to the formal curriculum frameworks and frameworks for babies and young children in your home country.

The more I read this, the more I am convincing myself I am thinking along the wrong lines! Am I right in saying that it's to do with PSE, CLL, KUW etc and then I mention what activities we provide at the setting to incorporate all of these?

I was really hoping to answer this question whilst my two little darlings were sleeping, but I can't get anywhere with it!!!!

Thanks ever so much for even the tiniest bit of guidance!

Andrea xx

Hi Madmum 1972

You are on the right lines. I have just done a presentation for uni tonight on this subject funnily. It is how the curriculum is brought into different settings. For example; In child care facilities (nurseries etc) the curriculum is the EYFS framework where the six learning goals are the ones youv'e mentioned, this then will lead on through into reception years where it will lead onto key stage 1 then key stage 2 where the national curriculum framework is introduced. Babies and children 0-3yrs are provided with the foundations, this is preparing for life skills. Example; Biological and Physiological; safety needs-protection; belongingness and love; Esteem needs; Self-actualisation etc. You then need to do what youv'e said and that is explain hwo you incorporate this into the activities you provide for your children in your setting. If you need to say what other countries do then you could look at Reggio Emmilio (Italy) schools and see how they do it then compare it to your setting; is it the same are there any differences etc.
hope this helps
