hi tina, i got some brilliant info from you answer regarding CYPOP 15 i was wondering if i was on the right track with the question on how the process of how supportive strategies are selected and implemented am i right in thinking that this is done through SENCO, and teacher by doing observations and collecting eveidence and then contacting SALT who will give recommendations and set activites after they have assessed the child all done with the consent of the parent any help would be great x

brilliant you are on the right track i also put something like this

By observing the child we can assess the best way to implement and select supportive strategies we can use these observations to make an assessment of the child, getting to know the child and finding out their strengths. Knowing what the child’s interests and motivations are will help in choosing activities to help keep the child’s concentration. Using the next steps stage on the observations we can select an age and stage appropriate strategy for the child. Strategies are also chosen by using the four areas of the special needs code looking at the child’s emotional behaviour, cognitive learning, communication and interaction and sensory and physical areas. Once the area or areas have been chosen we cross reference with the 6 areas of learning for eyfs creative development, physical development, knowledge and understanding of the world, problem solving, numeracy, communication, language and literacy and persona, social and emotional development. Using the eyfs 6 areas of learning we will then chose the strategies. Once the strategies has been chosen then we can draw up an individual education plan for the child this will list what strategies are going to be used, how the children has responded to the activity and has the activity made a difference to the child. The target set for the child.
