SOS EYE LEVEL 3 - Knowledge questions HELP

hello,

i'm wondering if anyone can help.

I thought i'd finished my work but my tutor has sent me these questions which I've apparently missed out!? !
what makes it even worse is that I have no ide what unit they're from?!?!?!?!

1.4 - Explain how other sources of information can be used to support planning activities, play opportunities and educational programmes
1.5 - Explain the importance of using both the indoor and outdoor environment when planning activities, play opportunities and educational programmes
1.3 - Identify how systematic synthetic phonics supports the teaching of reading
1.3 - Explain the legal requirements and agreed ways of working for the security and confidentiality of information
1.7 - Explain how to balance the tension between confidentiality and openness in records and reports
1.1 - Explain the stages of creative development for children
1.2 - Explain the stages of imaginative play for children

I've spent time over the last two evenings doing research and I haven't been able to find any solid information to help me, so i'm majorly stuck and literally have no clue what to write!

I have no resources to refer back to either as I've gotten rid of all my books already!

any help would be great! thank-you.xx

Hi, hoping this may help

1.4 - Explain how other sources of information can be used to support planning activities, play opportunities and educational programmes

Think about the places you get ideas and advice on when planning the activities in your setting.

1.5 - Explain the importance of using both the indoor and outdoor environment when planning activities, play opportunities and educational programmes

P.22 of the EYE handbook - search inside for the phrase 'indoor and outdoor space'

1.3 - Identify how systematic synthetic phonics supports the teaching of reading

There are two ways that professionals can use when teaching young children to read so looking at how the current system helps children is beneficial.

This thread may help: https://www.silkysteps.com/forum/showthread.php?t=21197

Using phonics to help learners understand the sound and spelling system and use this to read and spell accuratly

(Quote p. 212 STL level 3 handbook)
The use of phonics is the way in which children are taught the spelling system from the earliest stages. Although schools may use different methods to do this through various commercial schemes, many of the ways in which they do this will be similar. Letter sounds are often taught throughrhymes or songs and/or use of cartoons or other characters in order to make the experience fun and memorable for children. There may be extended resource packs to support these. You should be familiar with the methods which your school setting uses so that you can support children in the most effective way. As well as letters of the alphabet, phonic schemes will also teach children additional souds - for exampls 'sh', 'ch' and 'th' separately - so that they are able to recognise the disticnct sounds which they always make.

And from page 229 of the EYE handbook search inside for the word 'systematic' click to page 229. The main points include how
  • Phonics are the current approach to teaching reading to children in England
  • Children learn to associate a letter or group of letters with a sound eg. c-a-t
  • synthetic phonics teaches children to look at each letter or group of letters separately and the blend or 'synthesise' them together.
  • Phonic programmes have a clear structure so that children learn sounds in a particular order - that is, systematically.
  • Phonics is taught regularly each day for a set amount of time and taught separately to other curriculum activities as this is thought to be the more effective way of teaching phonics.
1.3 - Explain the legal requirements and agreed ways of working for the security and confidentiality of information

This is to do with your setting's policy and procedures, what you're meant to do in the setting when it comes to collecting/asking and handling information. Legal requirements are what the EYFS states (if you work in England), the Data Protection Act and The Freedom of Information Act.

1.7 - Explain how to balance the tension between confidentiality and openness in records and reports

As above, only specific individuals have the right to information. Parent's have the right to their child's records and a conflict can arise when there are serious child protection concerns involved,

Hth xx
