Default The importance of safeguarding question.

Why is it important that children are given the power to protect themselves, eg to reconise the risks and make their own decisions about safety ??

Examples of ways that childcare workers can empower children eg ways to work with children, examples of activities ??

It must be to late at night for me because i am struggling to think

Hi, a warm welcome to you both xx

Making decisions about safety is wide ranging, safeguarding in general covers a huge amount of eventualities and possibilities, within that generality child protection operates .. eg. from choosing to cross a road when busy or quiet, where to cross and how, jumping from the last balancing stone with or without assistance/support, using hammers with care to children having ways that enable them to remove themselves from abusive or harmful situations.

Saying stop, saying I'd rather not, tell someone, safety awareness - eg. sun & dental care

The importance is that children have a right to thier life, to be safe, protected from harm, to express themselves, be part of their country through nationality and have access to information that ensures their well-being -UNCRC

I hope this helps, enjoy the site xx
