Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Teaching and Learning in Schools, Practical unit advice neeeded.
Hi I am doing this course online through Stonebridge and need to do my own assessments for the practical units and get the class teacher to sign as evidence. I am struggling a bit on some of the criteria as I am working in EYFS and unsure what type of things I may have done to cover them. My school is currently on holiday so I can't ask the advice of the teachers, plus they are always so busy and I barely get a chance to talk to them anyway.
I have chose 4 activities that cover and wondering if I can elaborate on the to cover the points I have added below.
ICT - interactive maths activity on whiteboard
Numeracy counting, adding up and ordering size
Literacy - Reading assessment and practice of core word
Problem solving - Life cycle jigsaws
I sometimes write brief notes if a child has struggled with something and for the assessment it was a simple yes or no tick box
Supporting assessments tasks I need to cover but I am struggling to show how I might have done these
• AC 21.2: Use clear language and examples to discuss and clarify personalised learning goals and criteria for assessing progress with learners
• AC 21.3: Use assessment opportunities and strategies to gain information and make judgements about how well learners are participating in activities and the progress they are making
• AC 21.4: Provide constructive feedback to learners to help them understand what they have done well and what they need to develop
• AC 31.1: Use information gained from monitoring learner participation and progress to help learners to review their learning strategies, achievements and future learning needs
• AC 31.2: Listen carefully to learners and positively encourage them to communicate their needs and ideas for future learning
• AC 31.3: Support learners in using peer assessment and self-assessment to evaluate their learning achievements
• AC 31.4: Support learners to: a) reflect on their learning b) identify the progress they have made c) identify their emerging learning needs d) identify the strengths and weaknesses of their learning strategies and plan how to improve them
It may be something that I do as part of my normal day and I can clearly see how this would work and what I would do in older years but as EYFS is with 3-5 year olds we do not do a lot of structured activities so I am struggling to see how I cover all of this and would appreciate some advice from anyone who has covered this or works in EYFS that can guide me.
Thanks in advance
Lisa
