General question planning

Hi everyone i've spent loads of time on this site getting advice, it's been really helpful. I'm doing ok with my written work, completed 4 units, but i struggle with assessments. My assessor is coming on Monday for 309, as i'm not directly involved with my settings planning, just imput at staff meetings etc, any tips on how to get through it would be very much appreciated!

Firstly be honest....express your limited personal imput...however stress your understanding and knowledge of how the planning is a holistic approach to learning which ensures parents/carers and practitioners work effectively together to support the children's learning.
Perhaps acknowledge that you would enjoy more of a 'hands on' approach...perhaps even suggest this at your next team meeting?
Just as each child is unique and is valued as an individual, so should all the settings team members....working together is vital....:soapbox:

Hi Tina helping to build planning at your meetings is being directly involved. Overseeing its implementation is perhaps more the leaders responsibility, are you able to have a copy of the planning to help see how its laid out, what's expected and how you help ensure it's delivered - performing duties, routines, activities ..

As Air recommends if you explain, I'm sure your assessor will be aware of the limits.

If it helps further & is appropriate could you put together a sheet using an acitivty, outcome or other learning objective to plan for the assessment ..

Best wishes

hi, am doing a case study on a child unit 303, ive been told to link this to my optional unit 310 by doing formative assessments after each observation. From assessments, identify areas for improving practise has to be included, has anyone done this? would be grateful for any feedback!

Highfive Improving provision?

Hi Sarah W

Are you referring to using assessments of children's progress to inform staff development and improve provision?

I'm on this one too and am answering in discussion, planning to talk about how observations/assessments can show how well the setting is doing things. How it's possible to reflect on practice and to question why activities/areas aren't being used, are we meeting children's needs, do we need more equipment, need for specific training (eg positive behaviour), involving children in choosing resources for activity/area..

Hopefully that will do it.
